19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces
A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The athlete, a former world number one, has had a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.
His varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This marks the player's initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from March of that year.
Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.
His counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on court had prompted observers to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.
However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an enhanced serve.
He fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional victory, took control to create a decider.
He saved four early opportunities in a close deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
